    Small van

I have just sold a 2012 Caddy as have bought another one 2016 automatic as my wife's left knee could not handle a clutch in a traffic jam. They are a great van and the diesel engine will go on forever. More importantly they hold their second hand value. I also have a VW T5 which I have had...

    Pay Pal

If you ask them to pay as a family or friend you will not pay a commission. Strictly speaking you will be breaking PayPals T&C but if it is a rare event you should have no problems.

    Olson double/reverse tooth blade supplier

Thanks Martyn. I have checked out US sites but with postage they work out more expensive than buying the multi-pack and discarding the 5RG's. Just hoping someone had found a UK seller. As I said used to get a pack of 12 9RG's for £7.50 but they stop trading, perhaps they were getting old...

I have been using Olson double/reverse tooth PGT 9RG blade for cutting 25mm oak. I do not have tight curves so they have been great. I have tried other blades but these were the best and had the longest life. Unfortunately my supplier woodworkscraftsupplies stop trading this Spring. Does...

    Van through car wash?

I have a VW Transporter T5. Use my local Sainsbury car wash but make sure I fold the wing mirrors back. The advantage is that it does an under chassis wash which you cannot do by hand. Check whether your van will fit between the guide rails.

How do we get kids to be engineers

First can I thank everyone who has responded to my original post. I have certainly got more information on peoples’ views which can only be beneficial to the debate. Rhyolith I feel for you havening your initial enthusiasm for engineering worn down. It is true though that to do a degree...

How do we get kids to be engineers

I agree we have lost a lot of manufacturing but there is still plenty of opportunities. The car industry has been mentioned but often forgotten is that we are one of the most successful pharmaceutical manufacturers who employ a whole range of engineering disciplines. If you are considering a...

How do we get kids to be engineers

As a retired professional engineer I love the ability to now work with wood and am grateful for the many posts in this forum that have helped me develop my skills. I do however wonder how we get young people interested in becoming engineers. Once I descibe myself as a Chartered engineer I am...

    Lidl swivel castors

Well from my first post telling people about the Lidl price for 2" castors we seem to have got into 80mm castor suitable for heavy machines. I use high quality 3.5" castors for my PT, bandsaw, router table and heavy workbench and 2" castors are far too small for such duty. However I have three...

    Lidl swivel castors

Well I don't know about the ones you bought from Leroy Merlin but I fitted my first set this morning and they have been working fine and the lock mechanism has survived a number of on and offs and has not shown any signs of loosening around the mechanism. Time will no doubt tell.
