    steam bending wych Elm?

    I have a chum who's a tree surgeon. He was a whole tree of wych elm which is ready to saw. I make guitars & mandolins and the like and was wondering....... anyone ever steam bent wych elm? I'll be planing it down to 2mm but what I wanna know, is it worth the bother? ta!!

    I have a pile of these pallets too. My brother mangege a concrete plant and the blocks are made and moved around on these. To say I despise the wood is perhaps understating things a little.......

    yup, never too proud to go dumpster diving!!! there were planks 3" x 1" x 16 ft !! I also have a block 14" x 3" x 42" with a corner with bark on it. it's at least two electric bodies!!

    Thanks Jason, I thought that was prolly right. I have a few tubs of part used stain, tinted varnish etc so I'll experiment a bit. I'll post the finished results....... assuming I survive!!
