Incra mitre 1000 SE - please help!!

Phoned Rutlands today, and spoke to Dawn. Very helpfull. It is being picked up tomorrow, whilst a new one is being dispatched. Hopefully should be a bit 'shinier' !! Reading around, the fence tilt issue is normal (although I don't see why!), but at least I should get a 'new' one. Will let you...

Incra mitre 1000 SE - please help!!

Hi all... Just purchased the above from rutlands, and have a few queries if anybody has this mitre guage. Firstly, it came out of the box quite dirty, and not as 'sparkly' as I had hoped (rust started to form on some bolt heads, and underneath the slide) - I can only assume this is an old item...

    cast iron gunk

I totally agree with the scraping off first as above. I tried a metal scraper :o (I was really gentle!), but still scratched the surface a bit (purely cosmetic of course). I resorted to a credit card which was perfect.

Hi all, Thanks for all the advice. Very helpful. I have had a look at the sample in all different lights, and it actually doesn't look that yellow! I will try a water based lacquer though to compare. Tried searching for the aquacote, but the website is a dead link now, and google doesn't come up...

    Preventing ash yellowing with varnish

Hi all! I will soon be finishing a set of built in wardrboes made from ash veneer mdf carcass, and solid ash doors. I had a practice with some clear matt varnish, and the wood yellowed as I expected it to. My question is this. Can i prevent the wood from yellowing / darkening? I would like to...

First of all, thanks for all the help :D Okay - 6mm panel it is! Sawdust, I am getting it all from Laver as you recommended. Got a quote yesterday - very reasonable. Can I ask you, what did you use for the backing, as they don't do ash faced hardboard? I think i'll use mortice and tenons to...

Hi Bramers, nice looking saw. Iv'e just purchased the new 804(TC10RAA), which looks exactly the same! Did you use biscuits to join the side together? Is that black electrical tape I see on top! As a hobby, I build mini arcade machines, and use T-moulding for the edges like these...
