Benefits of upgrading blades for cheapish circular / jigsaw?

Better blades always improve the performance over cheaper blades, but you will always be limited by the power in the tool itself. I would personally buy some better blades and see how you go. Remember you can always put a slightly smaller blade in your circular saw if you don't mind slightly...

Covering Gaps in Plywood Board Walls

If you choose caulk, it sometimes shrinks into the gap, so if you are really fussy, plan on doing it twice, one week apart, to get it as flush as possible.

Holzmann TS200 or Bosch gts 10xc

There's a Dewalt table saw (I forget which one exactly) gets great reviews once it's set up correctly.... here it is in action:

Holzmann TS200 or Bosch gts 10xc

I did a search for the "Holzman TS200" and it looks identical to the very old Axminster TS200 table saw I just sold to a member on this forum. Literally identical, apart from the stand. I would most definitely not recommend you spend £800 on that, it retails for less (and so does the modern...

Budget mitre saw with forward facing rails

I have a Dewalt. Power and durability are good. Lack of features is the major downside. If I was buying again, I'd go for something with a laser/shadow line and trenching. People I know who have Bosch, Makita and Festool are all happy with theirs, FYI

Best and least messy way to remove surface rust from tools

Can you water down evaporust, eg 1 litre of it plus 6 litters of water, and just wait longer for the result?

Best and least messy way to remove surface rust from tools

Thanks Everyone for the suggestions! I must say I'm favouring whatever will be the least messy/smelly option and evaporust seems to be good. But, these are all hand me down tools - a few useful bits and bobs, and I don't want to spend £40 on evaporust, when I could just invest that amount into...

    Dry rods

please see my thread on damp issues in Victorian dining room. In summary, from first hand experience of fixing a major damp issue: Penetrating damp is a big cause, root causes need to fixed. e.g. gutter, floor too high outside, etc. Rising damp 100% is real, and if you don't have a DPC, will...

Loose MDF door hinges and screws

If you click on the photo and zoom in, it shows the hinge screwed into the MDF face frame. The MDF face frame is attached to timber, but the hinge itself is not.

Trend Make Domino dowels now! Just found out

Hi, Just saw on toolstation.com that Trend make loose tenons specifically for Dominos now. I think it's great - more size variety and cost ranges from £4 to £7 for 50, which is good for an infrequent hobby/DIY user like myself. e.g...

Loose MDF door hinges and screws

It will be tough to repair with household odds and ends to be honest. A very scrappy and temporary approach if you have no tools is to flood with superglue, as describe above. I personally would wrap the screws with cotton thread from your sewing kit, rather than matchsticks, because the thread...

I have the same as this. Ryobi with makita battery. Great bit of kit, I did a whole room's skirting and architrave and other bits and bobs with it. Worked great

    Glue(?) for Thin Patio Slabs

I would probably use CT1 in that scenario. It's very good.

    Making my own door frames

I recently build my own casings, it worked great. I used 18mm thick pine. They were attached to 2x4s with 'no nails' and brads, sides and top, so no issues with them being too thin even after hinges, locks etc. I trimmed the width them to account for the 2x4 plus plasterboard, so perfect width...
