Thanks David I'm on the lookout at the moment and awaiting an email back from one possible club (thought there would be more options) The club I have found are mainly turners but really wouldn't mind learning and I'm sure there will be a few people there who could give me some local advice...

I'm in a similar situation to the original poster - so if there's anyone in Edinburgh that's looking for a spare pair of hands then id be happy to pop along. Having workshop experience, experienced workers and different projects sure would be beneficial!

Interesting post - I can foresee me having some similar requests quite soon! total newbie but again struggling to find thin stock for box building. Also would be great to find out whose based in the Edinburgh area (im in the north!).

anyone able to update this a little? total newbie - likewise looking for somewhere that I can pick up a few pieces that interest me and see if what I can make from them - mainly box building so looking for 'thin' stock (no facilities to rip... yet!)
