    Thanks for the link, that could be helpful, I've found a lot of US stuff which has helped with the design, but hadn't found that forum. RE 8m.. there is a requirement for that beam not to have any major wiggles in it.. hence 1/4 sawn and one piece. I'm building a roll off roof observatory...
