    Joining two pieces of aluminium

As Grayorm suggests, a local fabricator or a company that fabricates in aluminium....they may have some aluminium 40 x 40 angle offcuts in their scrap bin. Good luck.

    Scroll saw - frustrations

Hi Mark, sorry just had chance to sit down......work, supermarket, cooking all get in the way! Switch/control on side is not a problem for me but I am tall... left handed, vertically challanged peeps might find awkward. Under the table is approx 320mm across the stand,170mm from the table angle...

    Scroll saw - frustrations

Hi Mark, I just use the blower (works wells) then clean up when I've finished. There is quite a large flat platform under the table that forms the motor housing/stand where the dust collects so there is room to custom fit a collection box I suppose. Perhaps the only 2 negatives of this saw are...

    Scroll saw - frustrations

Hi cowboy, Huddersfield, we're neighbours! Paid a measly £57 for mine off the 'auction site' plus fuel for 100 mile round trip, was like new when I picked it up and could barely keep the grin off my face. I'm not an out and out scroller but use mine for mainly cutting birch ply gear wheels and...

    coronet major lathe

Hi vindyboy, I think the only difference between Major and Minor beds is the Major has a machined slot at the rear to self align the saddles and the Minor is plain round bar. Got some Coronet paperwork somewhere, will dig it out and see if there's anything on there to confirm.

    coronet major lathe

Thanks CHJ for your detailed description of the electronic speed reduction gizmo, far more eloquent than my mates evaluation, he described it as a ' nasty wave chopper that will eventually b****r your motor!' So I will give it a wide berth, I reckon trying to find replacement twin shaft Gryphon...

    coronet major lathe

Hi WoodySteve, which motor do you have on your coronet hobby lathe? I have a Major with a Brook Crompton 2850rpm 1hp motor, think it's rated at 6Amps. Someone told me a while ago that some electronic speed reducers can make the motor buzz and get hot and lose some power/torque. Sounds like a...

    Large Scroll saw

Hi all. Is anyone looking for a large capacity good quality scroll saw? I have seen one for sale on a well known auction site and as I own one myself and can vouch for its quality. I don't want to compromise the seller or any potential buyer by describing it here so if you want to pm me I will...

Going to build a wooden clock

Hi, all. Just seen these posts, great clock malc75! If anyone fancies having a go at one of Clayton Boyers clocks please do. I have done the Horologium, the Tempo and Galileos Bicycle. I have to say I felt daunted by the gears at first, and fearing that everything had to be mega accurate, but...
