    Dry rods

Hack the plaster off the walls, give it a couple of coats on tanking slurry then replaster using renderlight and multifinish. It works, I've done it on probably 20 houses now and never had any problems afterwards.

    Decent Brad point drill bits

I disagree, I've used some rubbish bits over the years that are terrible compares to good ones. If you have rubbish ones that are blunt you're far more likely to snap them than a good sharp bit.

Unless you can do the cleaning/changeovers yourself it wasn't worth it for me. Mine was a 2 bed cottage in the Peak District, cost me nearly...

    Plumbing Push fit fittings help

Only if you're using plastic pipe though, you don't need inserts on copper. The hep2o fittings are great, I've used them a lot in work and on my own houses and the only ones I've had fail are ones that froze.

    Fixing skirting boards

I use multifix and 18 gauge brads on mdf skirting, the same on solid wood skirting on stud walls and then use concrete screws on solid wood skirting on solid walls. 15mm forstener bit to countersink the head then cut wooden plugs to cover it.

    Fixing door lining gaps...

In future just use spirit levels and a tape measure to set the linings. The trouble you're going to have is even if you pack the hinge side out, the latch side of the lining is still going to be uneven. I would take the linings out, cut them down and refit. It's the only way you're going to be...

    Your Favourite Tape Measure(s)

I use Advent 5m tapes, normally cost under a fiver but last a reasonable amount of time, I normally lose them before they break.
