Best sliding mitre saw (compound?) for around £250?

I personally wouldnt recommend one of the evolution saws, they seem to spin a bit too slow even with a fine cutting blade. I was trying to use mine for skirting and architrave and it really wasnt leaving a nice finish. I heard a few good things about the 8inch sliding hitachi. Finding a saw that...

    Jigsaws

*waits for someone to recommend a £1000 Festool jigsaw :P * ..... I have a dewalt 18v (same as the corded version) which is perfect for what I need it for, I have also used a cheap black and decker and this was really good too. The main thing that effects a jigsaw is the blade so just buy decent...

What router & table for minor jobs (newbie!)

in regards to mounting it ... you could always make up a bracket out of timber like a L shape that catches the lip of the router .... what I have done before was get 6mm plastic ... took off the plastic base plate and marked out screw holes .. then cut out a rectangle about 30-40 cm by about...

What router & table for minor jobs (newbie!)

Not sure on how easy they are to find but I remember picking up a powercraft 1/4 inch router and a table for about 70 euro in lidl.... you might find them on ebay or gumtree.... will leave a small bit of cash for a couple of decent router bits

WTB New Mitre Saw - KapexKS120 or Dewalt dws708

+ one for the bosch , I am on the market for a new saw myself and if budget allowed would be getting the Bosch axial glide but instead I am going with the Bosch 10 inch double bevel (not sure of name) but they go for about £420 .. after doing reviews for months the accuracy of the bosch caught...

Thanks for the reply! ... I used a dewalt 12inch for years so hopefully it wont seem much bigger, I know it is heavier and will be used for site work, but once its setup in the morning it wont be moved all day so its not too bad. once the cuts are nice on it ill be happy, I had been using an...

    10.8v or 12v drill drivers......any recommendations?

I could not find any 1.5 batteries for the makita even on their own site, the highest the 10.8v went was 1.3 as shown here http://www.makitauk.com/accessory/batte ... ttery.html I was personally all set on the makita until I came across the dewalt for £150 with slightly higher capacity...

    What's a good morticer for a beginner?

Even though it probably doesn't matter now... I picked up one of those powercraft ones from aldi about 3-4 years back. It cost me around €120 and then €20 for the morticer bits. for someone who doesn't need to use one on a fulltime/daily bases this purchase was perfect, so far I have used it...

    10.8v or 12v drill drivers......any recommendations?

I have the dewalt 10.8 impact and driver package .... I was using the makita for a while and the plus side of the dewalt is... they stand up because of the flat battery, they have bigger battery 1.5 compared to 1.3 which makes a big difference and batteries seem to be a bit cheaper... around £35...

    Bosch GCM 10 SD

I really like the look of this saw and the price. up front controls, big sawing capacity etc. What are the downfalls to this saw besides its heavy weight or would people recommend it?? for the price I dont think it can be matched £418 for a double bevel 10inch saw :D Thanks in advance, Steven.

Kreg Rip-Cut available in the UK?

I have one of these and use it quite a lot the only thing id recommend is to square a line about 200mm long at the end of the cut just to make sure you dont drift off line because of the lack of support coming out of the cut.

How do you put a price on your work?

What I typically do is price by the day and know what I need to make in a day to make a decent profit. In the case of the door repairs price for the worst case scenario and if it isn't as bad as you thought it would be take a bit off the overall price and tell the client why. This will help you...

What to buy first - router or table saw?

The router table someone posted is the same as the aldi one that pops up from time to time, I have had and used this one for site work for about 3 years (without the side extensions... its just a bit too big and they are annoying.... what I suggest you do if you get one like that is. mount a bit...

best sliding Mitre saw 2nd fixing

Although many look at the make "evolution" as a budget brand, I recently purchased one to finish a kitchen as my lovely dewalt went walkies one afternoon. I'll tell you this, I am in love with the evolution saw... its the green "DIY" branded version which cost me €130 over here in Ireland so way...
