    Thanks for all the replies. As per advice I went for the Stanley 803 on eBay. Suprisingly it only had 1 other bidder despite the perfect condition of the drill! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0614727901 What bits do I need for this drill? Will normal modern bits fit this ok?

    Hi all, As a convert to old well made tools I am now on the look out for a good quality hand drill that ideally can fit standard modern bits, or atleast has bits that can fit readily available to buy. What particular brands and models should I be looking out for in my usual car boot sale trawls?

    eek, that site is difficult to use. Don't think they have an online shop?? I don't think I need anything too fancy. I really only use the bench grinder to carve horn nocks for bow tips, and maybe shape bits of wood for knife handles now and again, but thanks for the link to the different...

    Oh yeah sorry I should of mentioned the use. I mostly use it for grinding water buffalo horn (longbow maker) but also for sharpening drill bits occasionally.
