Update, well it seems the early GHA tool and cutter grinder does not accept 20mm U2 collets they are 16mm dia. So it is looking like I may have to make them, or at least adapt an ER collet holder as I need a half inch (12.7mm) collet) and currently only have 1/8" and 1/4". er16 only goes up to...

Just a thought, with it unplugged and make sure it is, have you tried rotating the blade to ensure it is not binding on a woodchip someplace. Or even a blade jamming where it has come loose it should turn freely if the problem is electrical rather than mechanical.
