    Garden fence replacement....

Thank you all for your ideas. We've adopted the plan to put 2 x 1/2 size panels in after some trimming of branches overhanging our garden.

    Garden fence replacement....

Thank you. Tbh, I'm not even sure I could get those in, there are so many thick branches overhanging. We've trimmed what we on our side and that's helped but it's still going to be tricky. Like I say, we're not being helped by our neighbours 😡

    Garden fence replacement....

Hello everyone. Excuse me if I have this in the wrong section of the forum......and thanks in advance for any replies! Our garden is surrounded, as many are, by "standard" fence panels consisting of thin, overlapping wood. They slot into concrete fence posts. So far, so good....One of the...

    Power tool storage...

Apologies if this is in the wrong section. A few of my power tools (jigsaw, random orbit sander, angle grinder) sill live in the cardboard boxes they came in, but the boxes are getting battered and I'd like to store the tools in a more tidy and secure way. So, I bought 3 plastic boxes (with...

Is Gorilla woodglue strong enough for this project?

Hello everyone. Continuing my newly-found woodwork journey, one of our friends asked if I would make her a condiment holder for sauces / vinegars etc. The attached photo shows my efforts - it's clamped for the glue to set, then I'll finish it by sanding and oiling (I have some Osmo oil that I...

UK & Ireland TIMBER YARDS - PLEASE Add Your Favourites

Spotted this thread, and wondered if anyone knew of a timber supplier based in Lancashire who can supply slabs? Long story, but I bought a cherry wood live edge slab whilst visiting our son in the USA last year - the saw mill cut the slab into 4 pieces to go in suitcases (my wife was naturally...

    Wooden marking gauge very stiff....

Hi all, I have a Draper No. 44 wooden marking gauge (https://www.drapertools.com/product/64440/carpenters-marking-gauge/ ) It's been in my (dry) shed for a while and now it's seen the light of day, it's very difficult to move the "square" piece up and down the shaft. The whole thing is made...

Evolution SMS210 sliding mitre saw - a small problem is a big issue for me!

Thanks for that. Many apologies, you're right. I referred to M10 when I really meant M8 to fit the benchclaw. Senior moment. Thank you for your idea. I have ordered M6 size channel nuts so will see how that goes. If successful, they'll sit in the track alongside the existing ones so I get the...

    Box joints

Thanks. I'm looking at a simple dovejoint stencil that I think would help me.

Evolution SMS210 sliding mitre saw - a small problem is a big issue for me!

Great responses, thank you all. I've found some plain channel nuts on eBay that will fit in the tracks on my Benchlaw so am going to use those. I'll be able to leave the original channel nuts on the Benchclaw as well....

    Box joints

Hello everyone. For my next project, I've been asked if I can make a condiment holder - the sort of thing common in cafes to hold vinegar / sauce bottles etc. Essentially, it's a box that looks like a small wooden tool box - the sort of thing that people used to carry that is a tray with raised...
