The New Festool FS-SYS/2 Plunge Saw - Should I buy?

The TS55 was the first Festool I ever bought. For sheet goods it is perfect and still one of the most used (after many more Festool purchases). Hardly ever bother clambing when sutting sheets as the rubber strips do the job. Only revert to clamps when cutting worktop, just in case and the fact...

Screw Trouble, Quality of Screws and Impact Drivers?

Another vote for the camp that says use only top quality bits. I've tried most and the best I've come across for predictable results and incredible longevity are the Felo diamond bits. Not many places sell them though.

Tool Review - 'Netto' set/3 chisels in nice aluminium case

Nice one! Stranger still (possibly) I have this habit of scouring the car boots for old knackered chisels that are specifically blunt as possible. Mind you they have to be reasonably old (shows they can stand the test of time), preferably with a plastic handle and made by the likes of...

    Powered respirators

I find the pricing of these things on the phenomenal side. I was lucky enough to pick up a powercap from a car boot for 15 quid and find it pretty effective and nice and light. Nothing that couldn't be done with an RC battery and charger, a pc fan, a piece of plastic, foam, some cable, a...

    Axminster Price Hike

Forgot to post a chart - this is what has happened to sterling purchasing power overall. http://www.tutor2u.net/blog/files/sterl ... rticle.gif

    Axminster Price Hike

p111dom Many Chinese companies made little or no money, ranges of items that share a common brand name may be sourced from multiple suppliers - even the same machine (if there was significant demand) may have been built by different suppliers. Show city (can;t remember the name has lost 120,00...

    Compressor recommendations

Bambi compressors are nice, but on the v. expensive side, like the jun-air ones and most of them are small output. But for low output, quality and quietness the medical/dental spec machines are difficult to beat. Seen a few Jun-air and Bambis go for reasonable prices s/h on that auction site if...

Circular Saw Blades: Storage and Handling

Any chance of exposure to damp during lay up I've got into a habit of using a can of spray grease - cutters, blades, trowels, you name it I give it a light coat. About 2 quid for a spray can and lasts ages.

Is this drill guide available in the UK?

The Wolfcraft 4525 is metal (I think) and has a chucK, they also do one with the collar. Had a quick look but couldn't find a UK supplier, they are cheap in the US so might be able to find a US supplier that will ship to UK.

Effective drilling in masonry - new drill?

SDS drills are great, but sometimes cause problems breaking up friable brick/blockwork. For general use and plugs Bosch multiconstruction bits (much sharper than those rubbish winged masontry bits) have been great for me with an 18v cordless - for example something like battening you can drill...

very simple and nice episode about HVLP

Hankering to give HVLP a go. The Earlex has a 2 stage, 800W turbine, a little rustic and at 99dB is pretty damn noisy. I like the look of what the guy here has done: http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=399793 3-stage 1400W turbine for £60 then box (+sound insulation), a filter, hose...
