Eucalyptus - how do I use it for something nice

Having said all that, there are websites advertising eucalyptus outdoor furniture so it is possible to produce useable timber from this tree, but it would appear to require very careful drying. If i had my log again i would think about taking a chainsaw to it for sculpture.

wish i'd thought of turning it into a 'Jazz' carving. 8)

Eucalyptus - how do I use it for something nice

Jim I cut down a eucalyptus tree from somebody's garden once. I painted the ends of the logs and left it covered outside for a few years with the intention of planking it once it settled down. It never did, it just kept twisting and warping and eventually i gave up and got rid of it...

Electric Motors in the Home Workshop parts 1&2

Following on from yesterday, i had another look at my bandsaw motor last night and Bob was right, there was another wire lurking behind the metal case, as you can see...[/img]. So is it safe to assume that the two wires connect to the unused terminals in no particular arrangement -...

Electric Motors in the Home Workshop parts 1&2

Thought so. I'm having trouble opening that document. I suspect its a temporary issue with my computer rather than the document but once opened i intend to rectify my ignorance of motor nomenclature. Thank you both for your input so far. Tony

Electric Motors in the Home Workshop parts 1&2

Bob, fear not, i'm not about to do that. I'm well aware of the dangers of doing that. That last post was just thinking out loud. Chas, not sure what you mean by the capacitor housing... the cylindrical stuck on the end perhaps? Tony

Electric Motors in the Home Workshop parts 1&2

Bob The black cable coming from the bandsaw to the terminal block then attaches to a 3-pin plug. That's a good point, how does power get to the motor. Perhaps that isn't an earth wire and should connect to one of the terminals on the left hand side..but which one..does it matter? Maybe...

Electric Motors in the Home Workshop parts 1&2

Bob, i don't think there is another wire from the motor, i'll have a look later, but i always remember it as being just the one. As i understand it the yellow wire is earth so to my thinking wouldn't it be sufficient to attach it to the case of the terminal block (thanks for the proper...

Electric Motors in the Home Workshop parts 1&2

This is a timely subject. I disassembled my bandsaw a few years ago and foolishly didn't make note of where the yellow wire from the single phase motor attached to plug wiring box thing. Perhaps a photo of my dilemma would be more explanatory. If i knew how to insert a photo that is :? [/img]

    Axminster customer service.

One of the chaps i spoke to in customer services sounded just like Gareth from 'The Office' which was a bit disconcerting, but my dealings with them in recent times have been fairly painless, so yeah they get my vote.

    Replacement bandsaw Tyres

Thanks Wizer Well i just have tried that website and it appears to be for power tools as opposed to woodworking Machinery... was that a stab in the dark or have you bought bandsaw tyres from that site?

    Replacement bandsaw Tyres

Have any other bandsaw user out there had problems finding new 'crowned' bandsaw tyres in the UK? The only place i have found on the net is Rutlands, but theirs are not crowned.
