DW745 bench saw suddenly stopped working during cutting

When reinstalling, I noticed uneven wear on one of the brush faces; maybe one wasn't seated properly? They are fiddly to get in correctly aligned due to the pressure spring

DW745 bench saw suddenly stopped working during cutting

Hi All prompted by various comments (thanks) I have carried out further investigation. I opened up the motor. I’ve cleaned the contact point of the brushes on the Armature. I noted a groove or indents on the armature see pic I don’t think it’s wear but can’t be certain, might be how it was made...

DW745 bench saw suddenly stopped working during cutting

Spoke to PowerTool Centre they suggest replacing the armature as a starter and then possibly the field coil, £189 for both with no guarantees!

DW745 bench saw suddenly stopped working during cutting

Thanks for your response. The brushes were changed sometime ago because of intermittent stopping and not starting. I did check the reset button when it happened but it didn’t feel as if it clicked and it wouldn’t start again after pressing it. I don’t recall disconnecting it during the brush...

    Taking pallets apart

Thanks everyone. I've taken DTRs' advice and also checked out YouTube and bought the Roughneck Demolition and Lifting Bar from Toolstation. I've tryed one pallet and it seems to work quiet well. I'll report back when I've taken apart the lorry load I've been promised :!: :!:. Thanks again for...

    Taking pallets apart

I'm trying to establish the best way to take pallets apart with the minimum amount of damage to the wood. I'm currently experimenting with grinding nail heads off with a burr in a router although they seem to get to hot and I'm not convinced that the burr will stay sharp for any length of time...

Switch problem on DeWalt 720 ras

Thanks for that Mister Fish, I guess this is a common problem?

Switch problem on DeWalt 720 ras

I'm not sure whether that's the correct description! The switch is a rocker switch that won't click though until the power runs continuously.

Switch problem on DeWalt 720 ras

It takes several goes to start my 4 yr old radial arm saw sometimes as many as six. Often the no load switch prevents any start. Anybody know what the problem might be please?
