Got a small set of rasps today and had a go at the barley twist. Very time consuming, but the results is ok. I'll do the barley twist on the next goblet. If all goes to plan, I'll post it on here. Thanks for the nice comments.

Got Woodturning magazine through he post a few days ago and liked the look of the goblet in there, so thought I would have a go. Haven't done the twist on the stem as I don't have the tools to do it. Bowl and foot are cherry and the stem is bubinga. Comments welcome. Andy.

OK, so wax on the outside. I'll give it a go. Pete: Have you tried melamine for the whole goblet? I intend to make a few trial goblets for use over Christmas by friends and me to see how they perform. I am concerned about the longevity of the finish if I sell any (which is the intention).

Thanks for the replies. I'll try the melamine finish as I have some already. What do you guys put on the outside of the goblets?

Sorry if this has been covered already, but couldn't find any answers. I want to make usable goblets. Have any of you guys found a lasting proofing process? I have tried beeswax which works, but I just wonder how long it will last. And what about the outside of the goblet? Thanks. Andrew

If Record Power, go for the CL4. Variable speed is just the biz.

So just over a month with the CL4 and I am pleased with the choice I made. I think as mentioned above the stand could be a bit more substantial, but it works. I think for the money and looking at the competition, it is a bout the best. Only my opinion of course... :D

Ok, I know it is a bit of a late update, but I got a diamond dresser and things are a lot better now. Thanks for the advice guys.

Stone is secure. Using a dressing stone (bet this isn't good enough is it?) Just holding the dressing stone. So what do I need to remove the high spots? Thanks

Hi all I am trying to true (if that is the correct terminology) my grind wheel, but I just seem to be making worse. It is ok with side to side movement, but it is very bad in forwards/backwards. I have tried to dress it to get it concentric, but it is just getting worse. Why can't I get...

Had the day on the lathe today and seems good to me. Feels strudy and very quiet. Think I'm going to like it.
