A couple more bowls today, a Birch tippy bowl and a stunning olive Ash bowl

They're gorgeous 😍, I love birch, the spalting can be amazing, sometimes just subtle shades and others full on colour changes, I keep most of mine on the concrete floor of the workshop, it seems to colour up better that way than being on the shelving.

Couple more birch pieces today, a very small pot and a bowl coloured inside with red food colouring, not 100% happy with it but I'm sure someone will like it

@Agent_zed where in the southwest are you? If not too far from Aldershot/Farnborough you are more than welcome to come run in through my bandsaw

End to end through the hearts, parallel to the ground in your 2nd pic, you'll get 2 shallow bowls, being a 3 way crotch you could get some gorgeous feathering in the grain. Similar to this eucalyptus but with 2 feather stripes- Or you could turn a single live edge bowl like the eucalyptus ⬆️...

Definitely cherry and I'm shocked it hasn't split more than it has, I'd be tempted to split it through the centre, rough turn 2 bowls and seal with pva then store in their own shavings for a few months to finish drying.

Just had a closer look and the cube of wood I initially assumed was Ash is actually oak, hoping I can square it up without losing too many of the small cracks then turn the centre away leaving the outside faces flat then put a light inside, if it works I think it will look stunning, especially...

I hate it. I forgot to allow for the kerf so now the drawer is too small for the calculator by 2mm, in my haste I forgot to sand the inside of the drawer before gluing it back together, the back panel of the drawer didn't glue on very well because the layer of ply didn't like being cut and tore...
