    Trees!!

    most wood will split from the pith so you could blank it by cutting in half lengthways removing the pith then seal the ends with pva glue - then store in a cool but dry area maybe under breathable sheeting to prevent rapid drying.

    Buying First Lathe...Are Old British Machines the way to go?

    if i were buying again i would try and get Variable speed, i was unaware when i got my Graduate bowl lathe how much better it would be, to be honest i get a bit fed up messing with the belt so thinking of upgrading it to variable.

    Hi, I was wondering if there are any Turners in the midlands area - wolves, cannock, Stafford or Birmingham who would maybe let me watch them turn, the local club night conflicts with work so cant attend and there seems to be very little tuition in the area, if someone could spare the odd hour...

    thanks phil, i joined 2 clubs - the one a great club i had to stop going to as it clashed with work which was a shame - and the other was made up of non turners just meeting for a chat so i stopped going
