    Wooden playhouse finish

I have a wooden playhouse to erect for my twin granddaughters and then paint or stain in pink and white. What's the best to use, coloured stain or outdoor gloss paint? Are the stains vibrant enough? Advice appreciated.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Not just the last thing I made but the first!! Its the first bit of woodwork I have done since leaving school in 1975. I have had some very good advice from this forum on questions I have asked on the construction. SWMBO has been asking for a blanket box for a couple of years now, so I took the...

Which first, stain then sanding sealer or vice versa?

I have just finished making a blanket box in pine. Now do I stain the wood first then apply the sanding sealer? My thoughts are that if I applied the sanding sealer first, the stain wouldn't take, am I right? It will then be waxed. I need to get it right first time.

    Breadboard ends advice

Well I finally glued my boards up (with biscuits  ) and going to leave it end grain. I had to do a bit of sanding both sides because with not having a planer/thicknesser some of the boards where standing proud of the next one to it but I'm happy with the outcome. Just needs trimming to...

    Breadboard ends advice

Thanks for the constructive advice, its my first woodwork project since leaving school in 1975, I've impressed myself with the build so far. The reason I asked this question is that I thought adding breadboard ends would stop the whole top cupping as against just having end grain showing, or...

    Breadboard ends advice

I have made a pine blanket box but still have the top to make. I will be joining boards together with glue and biscuits and adding breadboard ends but what I want to know is, when I have the ends on, the main top boards wont be supported on anything (lengthways) if someone sits on it, so would...

    Router bit advice

Please be gentle, I'm learning  I need to make a series of 10mm mortises, 30mm deep. I have already cut the tenons to 30mm I thought I had a 10mm router bit but was mistaken #-o so I started drilling and cutting them by hand but I need the easier option  I will be doing them on my...
