    Wood advice

    Thanks for the advice and links. It must be old age, because I used to do these before, but not 100% sure what wood I used. I did a few with pen blanks, but they are a bit too small for the base part. I seem to remember I normally used exotics, but they are just a bit pricey for me starting...

    Wood advice

    Hi, I am newly back on this site after a long wood turning gap! I used to be on her as Mrs Sliver .... some while ago. Anyway, I am wanting to do some delicate finlals. What would anyone recommend as the best wood for that? I no longer have any decent wood, so need to restock.

    Yarn Bowl

    I think the side of the cut would depend on where you put the bowl, so not really important. I have found an old bowl that I started before I gave up turning, it already has a crack in it, so maybe will follow that along.

    Still turning out amazing pieces. I loved the first one, the contrast in the inserts are beautiful.

    That looks good. But you are right about the weight. My daughter has dropped a not so subtle hint that it would be nice if the 'wood fairy' could make her one for Christmas. While plotting how to do one, I did consider that it needs to be very base heavy to hold it down at the yarn pulls...

    Great finish on pine! and your first turn? Fabulous. I am just coming back to turning after a long break. And yes .... it is habit forming! =D>
