    plane blade upgrade

I think the Quangsheng Luban bench planes are based on the Stanley Bedrock type check if they will fit the Bailey type.

Disaster with a trend diamond stone

I bought a Eze-Lap 250/600 and it works perfectly but I needed something coarser to cut some poorly sharpened plane blades so I ordered a 150/400. This worked fine for a while but the 150 side stopped cutting metal it just polished it. I tried clean the stone with hot soapy water, kerosene, and...

    Identifying small bench plane

Found a similar size but much thicker record blade on eBay for £5. Flattened and edged it and after a bit of tinkering getting the blade in the right place it now takes wafer thin shavings. Surprisingly it's a very nice little plane. I'll revamping it, give it a good clean, a coat of...

    Identifying small bench plane

thanks everyone I googled and no-2-as-a-scrub-plane-t76285.html came up small world. I re-edged at 25 degrees and blunted it on a piece of pine in a few strokes maybe a new blade or I might try to re-harden it first. I assume as it's 45 degrees + 25 degree bevel it should be bevel down.

    Vernier caliper ?

I bought an elcheapo Silverline one and it works perfectly well. Has two scales metric 100ths of mm and imperial 1000ths of an inch. AND if you drop it tread on it or generally abuse it it won't break the bank

    Identifying small bench plane

Can anyone help to identify this small plane I picked up at a brickabrack stall for £12.50 7 1/2" long with a 1 9/16" wide blade, no chip breaker, cap iron has no2 on it and M5 on the back bit like a type 51 spokeshave iron, 45 degree built in frog and the blade was roughly ground to 25...
