    Powered Respirators Vs Dust Masks

I've had a powered respirator but didn't like the weight and noise, I've had 3 different renewable filter respirators and found them sweaty. A few years ago I discovered the 3M 8833 which is FFP3 and has the little valve to make it easier to breathe. They are expensive but very comfortable and...

    Is this a scribing gauge?

That's how I thought it was. Thanks.

    Is this a scribing gauge?

In my ignorance of this subject I thought you would place the tool on the moulded profile of the glazing bar and then scribe the joint using the identical profile on the end of the tool. Am I missing something?

    Is this a scribing gauge?

That's a very interesting article, Fig 27 is exactly what I have. Thanks.

    Is this a scribing gauge?

Thank you Richard. I'm sure you are right about the reasons for lack of use because if you made sashes for a living you would soon be doing those joints perfectly in your sleep.

    Help with ebony

Here's someone doing both. The ebony will be straight grained, and his plane will be very very sharp. The scraper will be very sharp too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s4tU4fgMwY

    Is this a scribing gauge?

Thanks. Do you have any idea of when they went out of use?

Thanks. The sash template theory looks promising.

    Is this a scribing gauge?

I was given this antique tool about 20 years ago. The dimensions are very close to 1.5", 1" and 0.5" and the profile of the end is the same in both faces. I have always assumed it was a handy reference for those dimensions as well as being a gauge for scribing mouldings but it would be nice...

    Outside Office / Lodge

I recently bought a security shed from these people www.vikinggardenbuildings.com in Stafford. They were very helpful, the shed is well made, it arrived when they said it would, the price was good and they put it up very fast. Erection was extra but I had a lot of other things to do with my time.

    Outside Office / Lodge

It's best to use polyurethane foam boards for insulation rather than glass wool because although it costs twice as much it is twice as efficient. I used 70mm to fit within the depth of the wall and roof of my 5.4 x 3.6 workshop and an oil filled electric radiator on the lowest setting keeps it...

    whats in your pocket

Maybe but do you really want to be charged, go to court, pay for your defence and run the risk that the magistrate follows the letter of the law?

    whats in your pocket

My brother had a small lock-knife on his keyring which he used for peeling oranges for lunch etc. Going through security to attend a meeting at the Houses of Parliament in a professional capacity he was cautioned. He could have refused to accept in which case he would have been charged and gone...

    Dust Masks and other protection

After going through various powered and reusable respirators I now use 3M 8300 series, either P2 or P3. They are wonderfully comfortable and although they are quite expensive I find they last quite a long time because I try to make as little dust as possible.

    Sharpening Board for waterstones?

I used to use a non-slip rubber mat but now I use a wet J cloth which doesn't let the stone wobble at all.
