    We used to have chimneys with a flue and ventilation, cook over a vented oven, leaky windows too so lots of ways to disperse any moisture build up long before it reached the internal fabric of the walls. Now we have microwave ovens, dishwashers, washing machines, tumble driers, showers etc...
