My Evolution Mitre Saw done me well

I have done so much work with my Evolution mitre saw, and it is still going strong, but I use it outside. I have bought a R255 SMS DB which has double bevel. It is wonderful, and fantastic value for money.

My dust extractor no longer works as it used to.

I have now found this again - I have had trouble navigating the site, and my email address was not my current one. I washed the cloth filter bag and the extractor works as it did originally. Thank you to all for your suggestions. L

    hearing

PLEASE just do it. I am a linguist and violinist. I speak 8 languages and lead orchestras, conduct and do violin solos. I didn't want to have aids, but my NHS hearing aids are brilliant. Aids never correct hearing as well as glasses correct sight, but Anitha at Arrowe Park Hospital has worked...

And I am a violinist!!!! Madness, indeed.

Table Saw kickback and trimmed finger (Graphic description & images)

I agree about the Americans who post on YouTube. I was tempted to remove the guard on my table saw in order to trench as they do, but I cured myself of that madness. Leo

Thank you so much for posting this. I wish you the very best and a speedy recovery. I say a prayer before using any saw and have been a violin- and bow-maker for many years. I always, always, always use push sticks - pieces of timber 1" square x 12". I wrap orange duct tape round the 'handle'...

My dust extractor no longer works as it used to.

I have a twin motor Record, I think, green extractor. It is now 30 years old and despite cleaning the filter and emptying the shavings it doesn't seem to work as it used to. It makes all the right noises, but shavings from my Kity planer/thicknesser go everywhere. I have lowered the system...

    Myford keyless chuck

I have a keyless chuck permanently in my Fobco drill - permanently because it kept falling out and I Loctited it in place. I find it a pain in the neck - I too have arthritis and use a keyed chuck in the lathe. The keyless tends to slip and chew up the drill bits.

    Myford ML7 regrind

I think you may well be right. It works pretty well, and I , too, produce accurate work. It doesn't like heavy cuts in steel, but that may be operator error. I make violin bows so my work is mainly very small.

    Myford ML7 regrind

I have been quoted £525 + VAT by Myford. My machine was used by a camera repairer - ! - and then me. Would it be better to get new bearings or a regrind? I make bows for violin, viola and cello so light use, but I also make my own jigs and tools.
