Holiday to USA, anything worth picking up?

I know where you live Bob and probably have more experience of this than most be £25 seemed a little low. This site suggests it’s £390, what have I missed? John

    Hegner parts - QR clamp

New clamp ordered. Postage was £2.50 which seems refreshingly reasonable. Couldn't contemplate using my saw without it. Let’s hope this one lasts another 10 years before it disintegrates.

    Hegner parts - QR clamp

Undoubtedly worth it (the clamp not the conversation with SWMBO). As said earlier I’m not a scrolling guru but the very thought of getting a hex key out every time I want to do an internal cut doesn't fill me with excitement.

    Hegner parts - QR clamp

Oh well, it was worth asking. Hegner are unable to supply the inner bit, just the whole item. At £24 not as eye watering as I’d expected. I could have that conversation with SWMBO that now is a good time to invest that £500 on the mini lathe, ‘look how much I can save by making this widget.’...

    Hegner parts - QR clamp

Thanks WhatKnot, a relief to see the site back up. I’d be overjoyed to spend £15 on one, well done. I’ve spoken to them on the telephone and sent a picture of the bit I want so fingers crossed. If I’m unlucky it’s swallow hard and pay the asking price for the complete item.

    Hegner parts - QR clamp

Hi Whatknot I very much suspect you’re right, it’ll cost the same to buy the complete article. To do that however I need the Hegner site to be working or hope somebody else in the uk stocks the clamp. The Hegner site was down yesterday afternoon so let’s say it has been down about 24 hours...

    Hegner parts - QR clamp

Gents, could one of you point me towards the UK supplier of Hegner parts please? The website Hegner.co.uk isn’t being recognised. The inner swivelling bit on my QR clamp has broken, part number HQK-03. I’m hoping it’s available in the UK without the eye watering need to buy a complete new...

"Basic Box Making" by Doug Stowe. Shocker!

Thanks to everybody that replied and more You Tubing to do which is no bad thing. I'm thinking sometime in the autumn will be when the TS arrives so plenty of time for further research. I realise being terrified of the beast is as bad as being over confident so it’ll be baby steps at first...

"Basic Box Making" by Doug Stowe. Shocker!

Not withstanding the comment above about power tools and small boxes being a bad combination my next purchase is going to be a small table saw (dw745 - cost and size). Where does one turn to learn how to use it safely and still retain the hope of becoming a concert pianist one day. Yes there's...

I-Pad dropping connection. Any I-Pad experts out there?

I use an iPad and a BT router, whenever anything gets into a strop or on a go slow the iPad gets turned off and on (not sent to sleep) and the router rebooted. Invariably this fixes things but don’t ask for any technical explanation.

Well done NN for sticking with it and well done the seller too. Good result all round by the sound of it.

Can I say when men were men Railway maintenance film

Thanks for posting that dw, a very interesting watch that’s confirmed I haven’t a clue how a steam engine works (beyond a meths powered Mamod).

I hit them with the double iron gimmick

Andy, I trust you were asked for proof of age? Buying a slab of beer in Denver I got age checked, I’m in my 60s! The checker was old enough to be my mother.
