Can anyone recommend a decent make of stepped drill bit?

Update: the hole saw from Amazon arrived and did the job nicely. Ignore the mess on the end, that’s one that had been part drilled before and when I tried to drill with the new bit I forgot to put a block of wood underneath so that the centre drill bit would have something to bite into and keep...

Can anyone recommend a decent make of stepped drill bit?

Thank you all for such helpful replies, I really appreciate the advice. I’ve ordered the TCT cutter from Amazon simply for speed and will let you know how I get on with it in a few days.

Can anyone recommend a decent make of stepped drill bit?

I'd just been looking at hole saws on Amazon and found this TCT bit, which looks similar and well reviewed. Are the Starrett likely to be better quality would you think...

Can anyone recommend a decent make of stepped drill bit?

I have a set of hole saws but the sizes jump from 22 to 25mm and 25 is too big and I was trying to save myself from having to file all the holes out from 22mm. Maybe I'm just using the wrong tool for this job but was surprised a stepped bit wouldn't work reasonably in something thin like 1mm...

Can anyone recommend a decent make of stepped drill bit?

ok the editing failed on that one. Reply should read, I drilled a few other holes with other drill bits and tried it from there and it did the same thing, just seems to be hopelessly blunt all the way through. That drill vice has nt base below the centre so there's room to go all the way to...

Can anyone recommend a decent make of stepped drill bit?

Had a cheap step drill fail to do the job so bought one from UK Drills (bought through Amazon), who I've seen mentioned on here before, thinking it would be better quality but it's worse. I'm trying to drill some holes in 1mm steel to mount some speaker connectors. It drilled the first 2mm hole...

    125mm pad on a 150mm sander?

Thanks all, think I’ll get the sander and extra pad and give it a try. Will report back.

    125mm pad on a 150mm sander?

I’m looking at getting the Metabo 450XS RO sander as it’s much recommended on here. I was wondering if it’s possible to fit a 125mm pad such as this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Be-Your-Mind-Replacement-Accessories/dp/B0CDFR6LQB to it as I have a few packets of 125mm Norton sanding disks left...

repairing a Stanley 73 brace, is this the wrong part?

Thanks all, I'll try the drilling halfway, fitting it and drilling through. I have a decent drill press so should be able to be reasonably accurate I hope :) I use the brace on the farm quite often, it doesn't need power and is great for putting hinge latches through gate posts. Tends to have...

How flat is a piece of glass?

For those that asked, these are the planes. The wooden one has three names stamped into the front end, one of them is my granfathers so it had a fair life prior to his ownership. Probably the most accurate straight edge I have is a Starret 30cm combination square, I can use that to get an idea...

How flat is a piece of glass?

As I have the glass already, I'll send the edges smooth and put it on a piece of MDF and see how it gets on. I couldn't get it to flex with a few bits of paper at the edges so I think it'll do the job for what I need.
