    Track Saws

I dont think you can be sure a homemade wooden track will be as straight as the ali tracks. That would always bug me. I think any tracksaw would help you no end and instantly.

Best way to attach legs to an OSB chair?

I'd glue it together with 25mm dowels, not all the way through so you can see them but like floating tenons between the sides and seat. If you are laminating sheets of osb to get the thickness you could have an extra bit/layer on the inside of the sides that the seat could sit on to help with...

    Workshop lighting

Hi I use cheapo 5ft strip light fittings and just add 6500k colour temp tubes that are also cheap. They give of a daylight type light thats better on the eyes than the standard yellowey tubes

    Sketchup For Woodworkers

Hi, I signed up to Lynda.com, they have really good videos for beginners to medium level. I just cancelled after a month but learned enough to do what I need to. They also have really good tutorials on the vray plugin for photo realistic rendering that I use all the time for my work.

    Which bandsaw?

Yeah Hammer seem a bit elusive. I dont fancy another 3 month wait for it to turn up either. Although they did bring my planer into the workshop across some very dodgy ground. I've been getting the impression that there are a few brands, namely minimax, centuro and the unavailable to the uk...

    Which bandsaw?

Thanks Custard, I was looking at the n4400, what put me off was I thought I read it was best to use a 1" blade for maximum resaws and I think the hammer uses 3/4". Does this affect you/it at all? Thanks

    Which bandsaw?

Hi there everyone, can someone recommend a good bandsaw? I make my living from my workshop, we make all types of built in and free-standing furniture. We use hard and softwoods, reclaimed and new. Due to the dwindling sources of good wood I'm looking to be able to re saw various sizes we come...

Table saw with induction motor: Axminster or Metabo TKHS 315

Hi there, just wanted to say that ive had the metabo for years and can say the fence is not all that good. Im forever re adjusting it to be square (ish) to the blade. The steel table is no where near flat either. Its only good for site work as its designed for. Definitely get the axminster or...

    Another P/T Thread.....

I was gonna get the hc260 for same reason. It will do the job but i think you will want to soon upgrade. We just got one with quick change blades instead (hammer a26) so we are not wasting time setting them up after skimming off the top layer from old pine joist which blunts the blades. If...

    thickness of timber for furniture

As most furniture is designed to carry some sort of weight, I think wood thicknesses need to be thick enough not to bend under those weights and over time. More than this would be a cosmetic choice. Cheers
