    Multifoil insulation

hi Roger do you need full building regs standard or do just want to improve the insulation? My understanding is that 2 layers of the foil wont make any difference, the insulation is derived from the sealed airspace not the material itself, hence the importance of taping laps and edges etc...

Hi Roger I'm a BCO and I just graduated my degree this summer one of my colleagues did his honours dissertation on the multifoil insulation products available. His conclusions essentially mirrored BRE. In his opinion and many others as you have found the product has some useful insulation...

    joint advice for bench

thanks for that They are a little but it is an enclosed style which will be enclosed with 18mm ply or mdf so the racking resistance will come from that. I also need to be able to move it around to make best use of space so weight is a slight issue. I didnt intend the legs to be so heavy but...

    joint advice for bench

well I've got to admit I cut it all to length and planed the ends by hand and it was very satisfying, if hard work. I don't have any decent tools only big shed cheap stuff used for diy, I have a cheap and nasty hilka plane, so thats probably making it all the harder. My woodworking mojo was...

Davey it wasnt anything about your post I just do it for a living and its hard enough debating this stuff when your on the clock, we BCOs as a breed tend to be a bit defensive because we are on the receiving end a lot, sometimes justified I'll grant you. I was just trying to head it off in case...
