I'm guessing that its a new lathe and chuck and arbour and it wasnt whacked on hard enough to make the tapers grip
i would/do clean with solvent before assembling and wind the chuck jaws fully into the chuck body and whack it with a copper/hide hammer a few times
it could still come out of the...
Well i would start with a small 4 pole 3 phase induction motor and a vfd and run it up to 80 hz so that will give you the 2000 rpm and at say 20hz will give you 560 rpm or so….do you need to go down to 0 rpm?
Just for info the company was hattersley and Davidson
Any woodworking chuck will be far better than what you have look at Rutland for cheap chucks or sorby/record/nova/axminster for higher price ones..
What lathe do you have?
The drive and path ways have been block paved about 30 years or so this area has always drained but the last few years its started holding water… any ideas of what to do? Is there a drainage block that i could put in?
Yes in all likelyhood its definately a 110v model and its the speed control thats protecting the motor from burning out ( which a 110v run on 240v will do )
Put a 110v plug on it and test with a site tranny
