I picked up a nice piece of Yew with some Burrs in, about 10 inches diameter by 3 inches thick which I am trying to make into a bowl. When I am trying to turn it, my chisel keeps jumping when I hit the burr presumably due to it being harder than the surrounding material ? I'm really struggling...

I have been hobby turning for quite a few years now and have always used friction polish as a finish with no problems. Recently I have been struggling with it, it seems to be drying and leaving ridges of dried polish which I then have to sand back. I haven't changed my technique at all, only...
