First bowl - finishing advice please

Sorry, I didnt mean to start this but as we are here :-) I use epoxy too for the smaller spaces but i also found that clear resin that can be found in "artists suppliers" is good too. it is a two component resin that dries as clear as glass and as strong as the epoxy. I think its the same stuff...

    Alien Artifact 2

Hi JT, It is an interesting piece, what was the thought behind it? As good as it is I'd be interested to know "why"?

Thanks Pete, I like to try and make the mushrooms as realistic as possible. The great thing is you can just let the fringes "shatter" and it works :-)

Hey Chas, Good to be back and hear from you! Life has a habit of keeping me busy but I'm back to the workshop at last. I guess my turning has come on a little. Thanks!

    Back on the boards

Hi All, For those who remember me I just thought I would pop in and wish you a Happy New Year! I'm looking for a new chuck, or possibly a new lathe, so I popped in to trawl the threads. Good to see you are still here and knocking out some great pieces. Cheers, Mick

I might need a new lathe?

Hi Guys, Thanks for the tips! I'll go do a bit of window shopping and let you know (as it is my 40th this year and I'm trying to convince the good woman to let me spend loads of money!!) Mick

I might need a new lathe?

Hi All, I need some advice please. My current lathe is an ageing Myford that I inherited from dear old Dad (circa 85?). Its great but the motor sits directly to the left of the headstock. This means that if I want to rotate to turn big stuff and bowls I need about 24" clearance behind the...
