    Stanley No 78 - any tips for use.

    Purposely try to cut one with the opposite defect to get the feel of overcompensating in the other direction. Then try a new rebate splitting the difference in "feels." Also make sure the fence is not set askew - measure the distance to the outside edge of the sole at the front and at the rear...

    Bow Saws: The Continental type

    The ECE saws are nice but I do have to say that the solid steel bar used at the top for tensioning makes these saws top-heavy. You can get used to it, but I think the 'pure' form of the saw is exhibited by models with string tensioning which are much less top-heavy.

    Your project is obviously well executed but I find two boxes, a la Charles Hayward, more versatile to use as platforms for all kinds of sawing. They don't have nearly the visual appeal as your project but for the patient are susceptible to showing off one's dovetailing skills which does dress...

    Like Matty, above, I'm typically cynical about reviewer's motives, etc. Not so with your review. Great presentation apparently unencumbered by a whole lot of baggage and commercial associations. Will look forward to more.

    There is a how-to-build it article in the Fine Woodworking archive. I may be able to scan the article to a PDF and email it to you. I'll check it out over the weekend.
