    Lathe valuation

Yes, that is the one. Firstly, apologies if you had a wasted trip and thanks for the advice. I know we did have someone who came to buy some other items who kindly offered to post the lathe on a specialist website but I was unaware that the post was inaccurate. I believe that post/thread now...

    Lathe valuation

I did have a look - there was one that went for £1,120. Hoping to get an idea of whether that's a good price or not.

    Lathe valuation

Hello - I am hoping someone can give me a valuation for my fathers lathe. He died in 2014 and my mum is now ready to start selling the equipment from his workshop. I did post about this a year or so ago but she found it difficult to think about dismantling his workshop but is now in a much...

    Employing subcontractors an alternative avenue?

Be careful that you don't fall foul of IR35 and deemed employment issues. Plenty of stuff online about this but the govt have tightened up rules around using sub-contractors with ltd companies.

Anyone here had medication/operation for disk back problem?

I've suffered from back problems for the last few years (being 6ft 8in doesn't help - there's a lot of back to go wrong) and have had some good and bad experiences. I have lower back problems and inflammation of the sacroiliac joint in particular. GP's work on a process of elimination and so...

    Any music types on here?

I have spent years learning to play the guitar to merely a moderate standard I have sympathy for some of the comments on here. I do have a question though - I've got a nice US Telecaster and an even nicer Larrivée acoustic and in my new house I have a music room in the basement (sounds flasher...

Domestic work 110 or 240 legal requirements??

They are technically correct although (as always) it's not as clear as that - you would assume that higher volt mean more danger but this isn't necessarily so. People have certainly been electrocuted by appliances using currents of 110 volts and sometimes as little as 42 volts direct current...

    Virgin Media.

I was on Virgin Media in London for years and had no complaints - broadband was superfast When I moved out to the sticks there wasn't the option for VM so went for Sky and the broadband is VERY slow! Not sure whether this is Sky's fault or mine for moving to the countryside...

    Any legal-eagle anglers?

It could be that the bank in that area is unstable or dangerous, but that you can fish it 'on the dangle' by standing upstream. In theory fishing rights extend from the near bank to mid-river but try policing that!
