Hi all, is there a turning group of enthusiasts near gatwick?
Preferably south rather than north! Or maybe a single person near me that turns and could maybe give me a few hints and tips?

OK now all sorted! I couldn`t get a converter so the chuck fit the CL3
BUT... Axminster kindly took back the chuck and swapped it for one that fits the CL3 and adapter so the same chuck fits the
axminster lathe. I would have thought and insert in the first chuck would have been a simple...
Another silly question......?
What are the numbers 1-4 on a chuck for.
I screwed the 4 bits in and wound it tight and they all lined up to the centre
But when I put a bit or wood in it only 2 bit met the wood first??? puzzled me now!
adidat You dropped a tenna!
Thanks all for all that, I have learnt something there.
I have some Holly just cut down which I think is prone to splitting but will collect it and "start" using the chainsaw I got
the other day! and stack it, I was told pva glue on the ends would do.
Hi all, New to all this so wondering the best place to get some cheap wood?
I was given a few logs but they were too new.
Made a dibber for my mum and a day later its split!

Hi all I bought an axminster lathe (small) and got an old Blue Record lathe (big)(CL3)
I want to use the old one with my new chuck(Axminster) but the threads are different.
Stiles and bates can`t help and Axminster have one going the other way!
have been recommended a local friendly engineer...
Well I have had a play and sharpened everything that moves!
Excellent bit of kit for the novice that cant freehand sharpen very well!
Not cheap but I got the Plus version as cheaper in the long run.
