    White Bookcase Strips

Anyone know if bookcase strips are available in white, preferably flat and easy to recess? I've googled and can find plenty, just not in white.

    Any ideas what this is

Times when I've been stumped by something like that, I've posted pics at the Natural History Museum's Nature Plus identification form

Why Can't Someone Build Me a Door?

Why am I finding it so difficult to have a door made? I know the dimensions and have a rough design. I don't think it's a difficult design. It will be unglazed so I can source glazing units that will match a sidelight. It will sit between an unheated but weather tight porch and a hallway and...

An entrance door with MY glass in it.

Likelihood of matching the glass is very slim.

An entrance door with MY glass in it.

Thanks for your insight. My door would sit between a hall and an enclosed porch. Although it will never be rained on, there's a good chance of high humidity in the summer months if I grow anything in the porch. I had an inkling the XL door might suffer. Much as I'd like to have a go at making a...

An entrance door with MY glass in it.

So I'm out of ideas. SWMBO has her heart set on replacing an entrance door with something more contemporary. She did some browsing and decided upon XL joinery's Lucca, ie asymetric with five sandblasted double glazed panels. Now the problem is that there is a large sidelight in the door frame...

    Threshold Door Seal

Have to admit brush piles did cross my mind. I fitted them to an internal door years ago, but they didn't wear well and there were gaps after a bit.

    Threshold Door Seal

I'm planning to replace the door between my porch (enclosed but unheated) and the hall. It's not exposed to any rain, but the porch leaks air [A project for next year!] The new door will be an exterior one, 44mm thick. I want to draught proof the new door but keep the threshold as flat as...

    Pivoting Dowel Screws

Nice but I'd just glue the tenon since I'm aiming to not touch the visible faces.

    Pivoting Dowel Screws

Good points. If I go down this route, I have to assemble with the new post flat, set the dowel screw in the epoxy, then disassemble before fitting the newel. Certainly an option and a timely reminder for me to think of the order I'd fit the different elements.

    Pivoting Dowel Screws

That's just aesthetics. I'm sure it might suit some stair configurations, but it wouldn't suit mine.

    Pivoting Dowel Screws

I was hoping to make both joints in one go, hence a pivoting dowel screw. Mind you, I was thinking of a half moon washer, and having read through your reply, I realise a square hole is going to take up far less space. Mortise and tenon joint between the stubby bevel and the newel does appear...

    Pivoting Dowel Screws

Care to expand on that statement?

    Pivoting Dowel Screws

Probably a thread in it's own right, but here's a piccie which is pretty close to my situation. Must stress I'm only thinking through the project just now, not decided on specific parts, and doubt I have free time to even do it until the tail end of this year at the earliest. Just exploring...

    Pivoting Dowel Screws

Thought about one of them, but I think it would be too short. And the machine screw is a left hand thread so I'd need to source a left handed coupling nut with a fine metric thread, and sacrifice another zipbolt to get a length of left hand threaded rod. Again, can't rule it out, but a source...
