Good morning. I have had some yew logs sitting in the barn for about four years. Having dropped the tree I really fancied turning them. However, as happens, life took over and now I need the room. The logs have been stacked on a pallet and are various sizes. I expect a courier would charge more than they are worth so best to collect if they of interest.

Yew is supposedly great for Harry Potter wands as my grand daughters have told me. So far I have turned walnut, ash, oak and pallet pine making 30 or so.
I am getting quite good at wand making and am enjoying the whole process - turning, carving and finishing - so much to learn.

I am in south Worcestershire and would love to collect just a few few logs please.

Please PM your postcode and address so I could plan a trip to pick uip

Derek. I think I have sent you a message.

I’m interested in enough to make an acoustic guitar body if any suitable left.
Please let me know.
“In life I was silent, in death I sing”.

I would think there is more than enough for a guitar body, although you might need to give me an idea as to sizes ?

Surely, once you made one wand, you would use it to create the rest!!

Simples!

And the colour just gets better the deeper into the heart wood you get.

What an impressive array of weird sticks, sorry wands, you have !
There must be a strong Potter following nearby.
I am glad that the wood has found a good home.

Have you had a chance to think about sizes you need for your guitar?
Have you had a chance to think about sizes you need for your guitar?

Blimey I missed this question! Been a carer for grandchildren while their mother down with a bug.

Just measured and if it's not too late:
Top and bottom need 600mm x 500mm. Two sides need 800mm x 105mm.

And Am recovery from a double knee operation ! What a pair.
I will have a measure I guess the wood is not very thick ? If you send me a message we can exchange numbers etc.

I’ve been out with the tape measure. The 800mm is not an option. That would need a big log to achieve. I guess having to load them away on felling, I cut them into liftable sizes.
