Hi

As a newbie I was wondering if its worth taking out a subscription to the woodturning magazine as tescos do a subscription for £13 of clubcard vouchers. I'm wondering if there is enough in it for a beginner.

They usually have a few projects to try or how to's (simple and intermediate usually), a chat with a pro or two and some tool tests and write ups, so if thats what you're after then the answer is yes. They are a handy reference in the shed for gleaning ideas etc when one is stumped for something to do too.

A years subscription would be very handy for a beginner as it is all new and so you get the max benefit from all the articles, I find after a year almost every hobby magazine begins to repeat and have a bit less practical value, but the first years worth of any interest is often the one you learn most from.
