My brother in law just got a new job and I'd like to buy him a present.
Any ideas regarding what he would like? :?: He's an electrician.

A Victorian house re-wire for a trusting elderly couple normally sends an electrician into a dizzy.

Or a decent set of cutters. They always need cutters.

On the theme of the "rubber boots", it's better not to let electricity in not stop it from getting out. So rubber gauntlets goes on the list.
He'll need a crayon, a pencil and a ball point pen. Starting with the crayon he learns to write his name whilst wearing the gauntlets, then with the pencil and finally with a ball point. His signature after enough practice should be good enough for a bank clerk

He has most of these, but still a great list. Thanks! I've never seen him wearing Electrician Gauntlets, so that might do the trick for now. https://www.justworkgloves.co.uk/Sp...pl=STD&ccv=Y&gclid=CLy3ud-C2coCFVIaGwodASAE9g

thanks for the idea. I am not sure what type of cutters he has, but I know that he has a couple of them.

Lessons on how to use a broom?

https://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/pro...-loaded-vde-adjustable-torque-screwdriver-set

I was dribbling over the above set the other day! About 100 quid if I remember correctly, all depends how much you like your brother?

Learning your trade in the late fifties, early sixties, the broom was the first tool you were introduced to, and if you did not use it effectively, a thick ear was the order of the day, how times have changed and not for the better. These days the youngsters stand back and watch the older fella’s weald the broom.

As others have said, a good quality pair of side cutters will be most welcome, he will get through several pairs in a working life time.

Take care.

Chris.

All from personal experiencses! They are the mesiest trade going. Dont think ive ever seen a sparky on site before 10am or after 3pm, and they do tend to have a god complex about them!

How much do you want to spend? Can't go wrong with a vde set of something, screwdrivers or pliers. He will always need them, especially screwdrivers which wear a lot for sparkies. If you want to spend more then there's plenty of kit he will need, testers, test accessories (eg light fitting kits, socket testers etc), tracers etc.
