Picked up a bench grinder that has a 50mmx 686mm size belt at one end
Any advice what grit to go for and can you shartpen wood turning hss chisels with it ?
Also need a 150mmx 12.7mm stone would a the white ali stone better what would you recomend please ?

Yes you can sharpen HSS on a belt even with plain alox belts, but I think some favour using harder abrasives when it's HSS.

Can you get a CBN wheel in that size? Not cheap but by all accounts you won't regret buying one.
