I bought these two chisels recently.

There's not much left of the sticker on the handles, but I think I can read:

"W........

The World's Best Tools

England"

On one of the chisels, there is "Ward, Sheffield". The other one doesn't have anything apart from the sticker.

Is this Ward connected with Ward and Payne? And what does the missing bits of the sticker say?

Certainly gets my vote although the Wards I have are quite a bit older than those pictured with the transfers on Beech handles.

Old Thomas Norris knew a thing or two and nearly all his early planes ( his golden period in my opinion) have Ward and Payne irons and back irons.
