I've had one for some years, connected to my Henry vacuum and it certainly saves on vacuum cleaner bags. I use it with my router table, when cleaning my workbench and when using electric planers and the like. I also use it when vacuum cleaning the workshop floor although the suction isn't that strong for this purpose. The only thing to watch out for is ensuring that the filter in the lid is kept clean as it can accumulate a thick layer of dust thus reducing the suction. I think that Peter Sefton mentioned earlier on this week that he used one in his workshop.

Having a filter in the 'drop box' seems to defeat the object of them to me. A simple cyclone like the dust mite on a DIY 'box' seems simpler.
