Treating Hardwood Fire-door with BLO?

I have a rental property, which I am decorating between tenants, with a new hardwood fire-door which looks ‘bare’ in red wood finish. Rather than paint it I thought I would oil it with boiled linseed oil since I have some to hand. I wiped it over with a damp cloth to see what it would look like and the improvement will be significant. Can anyone see an issue with this please?

Sorry I meant to say…..It’s a flat and the door in question is onto an internal corridor so not an external door (weathering no issue).

Other than it being a fairly flammable material,no.

Yes I did consider that. Better to leave it as it is.

No more flammable than a lot of oil based paints and varnishes. The point of a fire door is that it holds up the spread of fire for a period of time. Well longer than a hollow core door would. Other thing about fire doors is they only work if they are shut.

It is still a fire foor. Do not coat it with Linseed oil.

There are specialist paints for fire doors but I can imagine the cost is quite high . There is imo conflicting advice where some information says you can use regular paint/varnish etc and others that say that you must use specialist paints and varnish . Again imo - surely if the finish applied is water based and not oil based then it should not affect the performance of the fire door . The fire door itself is the defence against the spread of fire and as not everyone will understand this the designers do , they are tested with every type of paint/ varnish / and covering to confirm their effectiveness .

A flammable coating IMO is not a good idea, best use either a recommended paint or just a water based, vanish if you want to make it look good.
