Just bought a Record Power RD26 (made by Lurem). Mint condition, really exceptional, but the blades need sharpening. Have struggled to find replacements so seems sharpening is my only option. Can anyone please suggest a reliable company / individual I could send them to?

Many thanks.

You could also try tewkesbury saw and sharpening company, They sharpen most tooling.

Just in case you don't have a handbook, Here's a link, There is a pic of the blade showing slots, but as you say very light on detail.
I would think a 'phone call to Record Power would be a good move to finding spare blades.
Or, When you remove the existing blades for sharpening, measure them up and make some enquiries for a spare pair, most important!

Thank you all. Record Power said they no longer stock parts which was very disappointing. I'll try the company in High Wycombe, they are fairly close by

Our very own Steve Maskery has a youtube video on making a jig to allow you to sharpen your blades at home. He has the blades held in the jig while some form of abrasive is run across the top of the blades but I see no reason why the jig could not be up-turned and the blades rubbed on the abrasive which has been stuck onto a flat surface.

Doug at cutting solutions could probably sort out some spares for you.

Metabo owned Lurem and you might find spares under their version. Emco also sold the machinery under their branding. 260mm is a common width for knives

I'll second southern counties saws...

Be careful as you have to drive past Axminster tools to get there...

....got a Xmas voucher, so will lessen the pain.... :D

Update..... Southern Counties Saws were very helpful and sharpened the old blades for £6. Brilliant job

Also found a company in Germany who sold me a new set of blades for £75 delivered to UK. Part number is 630467000
www.werkzeugweber.de Also very helpful

Metabo UK wanted £116.43 plus vat plus delivery.

Hi
Don't know if all branches do, but North Shields branch of axminster will send blades for sharpening/grinding. Just got 3 blades for a Record PT107 sharpened, cost £12 ish.

Very useful as I also have a Former RD26 made by Lurem.

Do you speak German or were they happy to communicate in English? I'm keen to get a spare set of blades for my planer, so any more information/advice/contact details would be welcome.
