Hi there,

have been having trouble with my Erbauer 10 inch SMS as when i use the sliding function when cutting it tends to produce an off-square/slightly curved cut with the end grain showing different levels as if the saw is curving..? When i cut straight down no problem whatsoever! Also the material is well within its capacity at 21mm deep/ 145mm wide.

Any tips.. thanks!

Hi I haven't got a sliding miter saw but when my radial arm saw does that its when angle of the blade is not the same as the carriage movement. Place a straight edge on the blade and see if its in line with the arm. It might do it more on angled cuts as there is more material to move through and thus more "rudder" effect from the blade.
Jim
PS try another blade to eliminate worn blade problems

Possibly the blade has taken a set and/or pushing too hard/fast for the blade.
Can you try another blade ? If not try plunge/slide in slow motion compared with normal.
All this assuming the scms is not wobbly on the slide .

My guess would be the blade - Trend pro or Freud from ebay will be a very decent and cheap option.
