What no top guard or riving knife.
Or any way to stop it when no one is on the footplate, nor any evidence of safety gear, and at times the operator standing on the moving platform, which was advanced by a crank handle very close to the blade area. Got through it pretty fast though, and offcuts were used to feed the fire to make steam to make more offcuts.

They had a smaller one as well. Had a top guard, and even used a push stick sometimes.

(this at a steam rally not a Woodworking event)
