Asked for a ''rustic'' looking mantelpiece clock.
Had this piece of Scottish Hawthorne log kicking around for a while but didn't look anything special - until I cut it up, lovely grain pattern inside.

Finished with Teak oil & 2 coats of Acrylic gloss lacquer.

C & C welcome

Nice piece, I think hawthorne is one of my favourite woods for turning. the colours and grain patterns are brilliant.

Andy,

Some of the plainest looking pieces of wood surprise you when you cut / turn it.

I had this kicking around in log form & it looked grotty so hadn't done anything with it apart from taking the end off one log which was just plain white, made a pen out of that piece.

This looked great when sprayed with the teak oil, really brought the grain pattern out.
