We are looking for someone to do some reviewing and article writing of our Brandon Bespoke food grade mineral oil and chopping board treatments. We'd be happy to provide some of our products free of charge for you to try out if you'd be available to do some reviewing (we are intending to post to our own website). We thought that woodturners, making bowls and other food safe surfaces for treatment, would be the best place to ask. Please get in touch with us at the email below if you'd like to.

We specialise in producing food grade wood treatments, both wood wax oil and wood oil for chopping boards, cutting boards, bowls, kitchen counter tops and alike.

Look forward to speaking soon.

Best

How does your product differ from liquid parafin BP ?

Edit: just been on your website and found the answer on the msds.
Answer: exactly the same.
Your prices are quite decent.
I buy mine from an equine supply shop and it's only a quid less.

Hi Lurker
Thanks for the question. Liquid Paraffin is a term commonly used in relation to pharmacy/medical field and so is often used as a synonym for other pharmacy/medical treatments that do the same thing. As such we use Pure Mineral Oil to avoid confusion.

Re the pricing, we're not really supposed to discuss outright business on the forums but if you can private message me I think that's ok, what quantities are you buying in?

I was trying to give some balance.
on the one hand your product is just a repackaged common substance, but on the other hand you are not ripping anyone off.
I have enough to last me a few years thanks

Hi again - we make sure that our mineral oil is tested and certified as food safe, and treated as such through its entire process from manufacture to delivery. We do this as with many producers they unfortunately treat it as - as you say - a common substance and not to the standards of being food safe (even if they label it as such). It's part of the reason we sell it as we do because we think it's important that if you are treating a food contact surface, you're sure of the treatment's provenance.

Also, as above, we produce many products with the Pure Mineral Oil being just one of them and are seeking reviewers for several of them (such as the Wax Oil Wood Finishing Treatment). If you would like to review one of our products we'd be happy to send you a free sample to try out.

Many thanks also to the numerous members who have contacted us about the reviews, we're working through your replies!

Yeh but.......... If it's marketed as BP ( the stuff I use is) then the purity has legal standing.

Hi again, that's true that purity of the mass produced material has a legal standing and we wish you well in your projects. In addition though, we ensure its treatment in storage, decanting and bottling also applies to food safe standards - which is not always the case with wood treatments. For our mineral oil we simply want to ensure that when people are treating food safe surfaces they have the best.

As we are looking for reviews on several products we don't want to overly keep repeating on this as it off topic for our original post. (we are also fairly new to the forum so do not want step on any toes!) We do though appreciate your comments and would welcome if you would like to engage on reviewing one. Is this something you would like to do?
