Hello all,

So I've just bought a new portable extractor to go with our dimension saw

It's a single bag 1500w 2hp 1ph

On the suppliers website it states 240v 16a

But the machine has turned up pre wired with a normal 13amp plug on it...now I've set it up plugged it in turned it on and it seems to work fine it seems to have a soft start on it so takes few seconds to get up to speed.

Do you think I should get this rewired onto a 16a circuit with the proper plugs etc or is it OK to leave it?

Personally I'd leave it with the manufacturers plug on it, if it starts blowing the 13a fuse on start-up then upgrade it. Once it;s running it's well within the 13A limit, only start-up inrush current is the risk. My dewalt planer thicknesser is the same size 1.5kw and when the shed is close to zero Celsius it at times pops the fuse on start-up.

The soft start negates most of the rush current draw to 16 amps, so will be OK.
