The depth stop doesn't stop the action. The arms are sturdy; about 10 X 1 1/2+ inches made out of about 1/8 inch stock.; It swivels 360 degrees; pointy bits are fixed; points are sharp but not razor & have square sides; & yes the adjustable slide slides up & down the arms that it is on.
