Hi all
I bought this on Ebay at the weekend and it arrived today

The body is cast iron which I think will clean up ok

The infills are very rough

I intend to remake the infills. I hope to use the handle on my infill smoother as a pattern - I have a large hand and I find smaller handles can be uncomfortable to hold. The handle on this plane is 1 1/4" wide ( Stanley planes are about 7/8" wide)and is the section is eliptical ( no flats on the side)

The blade is a Robt Sorby parallel ( more or less) iron and I hope it will clean up OK

The infills will be made from rosewood which I purchased about 15 years ago.

Thats all for now. I will keep you posted with progress.

Regards Arnold

That's a nice design. I wouldn't change too much about the shape. It is easy to loose that racy line and end up with a Frankenplane.

So it was you!!! *points finger wildy in your direction*. Heh seriously, I looked at this for a project, but figured I just didn't have the experience to do it justice, I'll be watching with interest :).
